Geographic focus
In the past, Simavi offered support in many countries. For reasons of efficiency, this number is being reduced. Geographically, Simavi now focuses on rural and peri-urban areas in 10 countries in Africa and Asia, subsumed into regional clusters. This also allows cross-border problems to be considered in a regional context.
Africa
West-Africa: Ghana
East Africa: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania
Southern Africa: Malawi, Zambia
Asia
South Asia: Bangladesh, Nepal, India (Uttaranchal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa, and West-Bengal only), Indonesia
Within these countries, Simavi focuses on specific geographic and/or thematic sub-areas. These are defined in country strategy papers.
